Deleted Scene from A Little Too Hot

The usual crowd plus Izzy heads back to Jonathan’s place after the gig. I settle onto the sofa with Ginger and Izzy on either side of me.
I didn’t miss the way Kevin was eyeing Izzy all night from behind his drums on stage, so when he plunks onto the arm of the couch next to her, I’m pissed, but not surprised.
Topher, Drew, and their respective groupies-du-jour sit in chairs opposite the couch and it takes Drew all of thirty seconds to roll a joint and light it. He hands it around the circle, and everyone takes a hit until it gets to Izzy.
She passes it directly to me. “That stuff’ll mess with your brain.”
Kevin coughs out his hit. “Yeah,” he scowls at Drew. “You guys should cut that shit out.”
Jonathan laughs from the kitchen. A second later, he’s back with a bag of Doritos. “It’s your stash we’re smoking, man,” he says to Kevin, squeezing onto the end of the sofa and pulling Ginger into his lap.
Kevin cuts him down with a glare, then he turns to Izzy, all righteous indignation. “I don’t usually partake.”
That gets another laugh from the band.
Kevin glares at Drew then stands. “You want to go for a walk or something?” he asks Izzy.
I grab her arm and give Kevin a “back the fuck off” glare. “No. She’s hanging out with me.”
But Izzy stands. “We’ll be right back, Sam.”
My stomach turns when she shoots me a “what the hell are you doing” glance. How is she into Kevin? He’s a tool.
Kevin gives me a triumphant smirk and opens the apartment door for her, then follows Izzy out. When I turn back to the room, Ginger and Jonathan are already going at it, and a minute later, they’re heading down the hall to Jonathan’s room without a word to any of us.
Topher shoves his groupie off his lap. “Anyone want a beverage?” he asks, heading to the kitchen.
Drew and his groupie move to Jonathan and Ginger’s spot on the sofa and he clicks on the TV and leaves the channel on VH1. “Two,” he says, his hand already up his groupie’s shirt.
“Sure,” I say when Topher nods my direction.
Before Topher’s back with the beers, Drew’s elbow deep in his groupie and clothes are already hitting the floor.
Topher hands me my beer and sets Drew’s and his groupie’s on the coffee table. “C’mon,” he says, tugging his groupie out of the chair by the hand and looping his elbow around her neck. He tows her down the hall to Kevin’s room, and I realize, just like that, the party’s over.
I don’t turn to look at what’s going on next to me when I hear Drew’s groupie gasp.
“This is my bed, you know,” I grumble as I stand and move to the front door. “I pay nine hundred dollars a month for it.”
The last thing I hear as the door closes behind me is a muffled, “Yeah, baby. Just like that,” from Drew.
I pop my beer as I cross the walkway and sit on the curb, and that’s when I see Izzy and Kevin just up the street, leaning against the side of Jonathan’s van. They’re about a foot apart, and Kevin’s waving his hands around in the air as he talks, but I’m too far away to hear what they’re saying.
I pull my eyes away from them and down half my beer in one swallow. What Izzy does is none of my business. But when I hear her laugh, I can’t help glancing over. Kevin has her hand and he’s doing something to it that’s making her giggle like a high school freshman. He pulls her to him, and the next second, they’re kissing.
“Gross,” I mutter under my breath. I finish my beer and stare up at the full moon. Maybe it’s because all the nookie I’ve witnessed in the last ten minutes, but all I can think about is Harrison. I close my eyes and remember his hands, the way they felt on my skin, strong and firm and confident. The memory makes me ache in places I shouldn’t.
I can’t sit here and pine forever over a guy I’m never going to see again. But even as I think it, I’m wondering if I can talk Izzy into a road trip to Santa Monica.
