Title: Escape In You
Author: Rachel Schurig
Publication Date: October 13, 2013
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance

This new adult contemporary romance contains mature themes and is recommended for ages 18+

This is a complete story with no cliffhanger!

Jet Taylor is the quintessential bad boy. A womanizer. A fighter. Dangerous. The type of guy most girls do their best to avoid. But Zoe Janes is no saint herself. In fact, she sees in Jet the perfect opportunity to distract herself from her responsibilities at home and the mistakes that keep her trapped there. He’s gorgeous, likes to party, and is clearly only interested in having fun—just like Zoe.

The more time they spend together, the harder it is for Zoe to stick to her “fun only” mantra. Jet is getting under her skin, making her believe things could actually be different. She knows they’re both trapped by the sins of their past but Jet is starting to make her think freedom might actually be possible.

And that makes him the most dangerous boy of all.

Spoiler-free review

Escape In You  is a story about two people who couldn't be more different on the outside, but share common ground in regards to their pasts. However, under some differences in circumstance. They are both hurting, so they build facades to mask their pain. Zoe and Jet "Taylor" are going through the motions in life due to their dark and broken pasts, so they avoid feelings and commitments. A means of self-preservation. Taylor is the male counterpart to Zoe. They've had a bright life and futures ahead of them until it all went crashing down. They've had loved ones who treated them poorly, but still tried to keep it all together in any way they can. Once they cross paths and find that they both are looking for nothing but fun, that's exactly what they set out to first. Little do they know is that feelings will develop, and before they know it, they are in too deep to back out.

Like most stories, this is no fairy tale. There were times where Zoe and Taylor completely rivaled each other. Where Zoe doesn't give a crap about anything that's not essential in her eyes, Taylor surprised me by his loyalty and sweet charm. Don't get me wrong, he's no saint by any means, but he has more character than some guys his age. But with this comes differences, and that is where they clash a lot of the times. This is where they got a bit frustrating to deal with and read about, but I was still invested enough to care about them and where they go each step of the way. There's a long journey of healing, acceptance and forgiveness ahead of them.

It's the thing about summer flings and casual hookups for whatever reasons that can tend to lead to something you don't expect to get caught up in, or find yourself in a bind you can't escape. With Zoe and Taylor, comes the question of whether or not two broken people together can be a blessing or a curse. It can be both, or it can be one or the other in disguise. You just have to be able to recognize which one it is. It starts out fun for them, distracting each other from their pains even for a little while, but then it gets messy between them. Then it's not all fun and games anymore. At this point, I couldn't help but mentally tell them to trust themselves to drop their walls enough to let each other in their life and hearts. Of course, as stubborn as she is, it took a while for Zoe to hear me out. I cheered Taylor on for going after the girl who wormed her way into his heart. The more they hang out and get to know each other, they really do have fun together; the banter and everything inside and out of it. It was that, that they truly found their reprieve in-- Not while rolling between the sheets for the "fun of it." They shine a light to rival their darkness and found something that neither of them thought they needed or even wanted. You know what they say. "Never sleep with anyone you don't want to date." Of course that doesn't happen with every person you sleep with, but it is something to consider and be careful with.

Before summer ends, they found an unstoppable and undeniable romance they were not looking for. Goes to show that there is hope, love and light behind the iron-clad walls that's placed around a heart, you just have to trust enough to let them down. As it turns out that taking a chance to go with your heart can help save you after all. Rachel Schurig has a way of making readers to empathize with the characters and their emotional yet hopeful story. Two broken people with little hope left in them, really can find a light in the darkness, and find a love so deep it deep it eradicates their pain. In dark times, some people shine.

I received a review copy in exchange for an honest review and the blog tour, however, it does not influence my review nor am I being compensated.
