UNINHIBITED is part of the Beachwood Bay series, but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone novel.

Uninhibited kicks off two months after Unrequited left off. Alicia and Dex had parted ways back into their mundane lives, but hadn't stopped thinking about each other. Then something sends Alicia packing a weekend bag heading to Beachwood Bay to...Dex.

In the prequel novella Unrequited, readers were left wondering who on earth Alicia is in unrequited love with. Rest assured that he is finally revealed in Uninhibited. When we found out his name, I couldn't help but wonder if it was the same guy we met a few books ago, and when I was right, I was still in shock. Weird, I know. Disbelief is a thing. We were also wondering what happened in Dex's past that caused him to withdraw from the stage. All of these things come to light, and it's really poignant. You understand or empathize with these characters, whether you lived their pain or not. Although Dex is a former reclusive rock star, it's not like those rocker books you've read. It's a refreshing kind of pace.

Alicia agrees to hang out with Dex at his beach house for one week. No work, no friends, no bullshit, just them. Their reunion starts out a bit hesitant at first because of how they left things two month prior the first and last time they had contact with each other. But they warm up when to each other... in more ways than one. *cue cat calls and wolf whistles* Not only do they warm up under the beautiful summer sun and the private beach in the backyard, but they also open up to each other. About their thoughts, feelings, pasts, interests, dreams, insecurities, passions and whatnot. And there may or may not be a semi-skinny dipping scene that turns into a searingly hot make out session. They also get a little domesticated during breakfast, it was adorable. Although staying at the beach house all week, they don't stay in the whole time. They go out and hang out, or just run errands, just enjoying themselves. And when their in, there will be sexytimes. Dirty talking mixed with sweet lovin sexytimes that'll just make you fan yourself. It's about time they get it on, but definitely worth the wait. Unfortunately, their week is cut a few days short when Dex's sister comes to visit and suggest Dex to see his former friend/bandmate perform. From there, we see how passionate Dex is when he's performing when he takes a chance to go up there again. It's easy to see that he belongs there, and why he should've never quit in the first place. But where would that leave Dex and Alicia if he took the leap to jump back in the spolight?

Dex turned out to be delightfully not what I expected. He is a torn soul, without being brooding, but with a big heart. The guilt he carries for something that happened in his past was unfortunate that he blamed and punished himself for it by withdrawing from the thing he loves doing. And Alicia... She was nursing her unrequited love for her totally unavailable best friend, and then dealing with what went down after someone's wedding. One heartache after another. Their dynamic is raw and real, and grows deeper the more time they spend together or apart. I love how they keep each other on their toes, and also have the ability to ground each other too. To see them toe-to-toe with each other is rather entertaining. Alicia is Dex's saving grace, and Dex is Alicia's salvation.

The wedding scene. So many feels. Misunderstanding, confessions of the heart, and heartaches ensues. My heart hurt for, swooned and fell more in love with Dex there. I just wanted to take him out of the book and hug him and keep him in my pocket or something. Or just lock them both in a room and lay their hearts on the table, and by that I mean Alicia because Dex already did. That is where the misunderstanding comes in. Alicia left her feelings unsaid and Dex read them wrong. Can they repair their relationship after their fallout?

I think the events after the wedding scene fell a little flat to me. That doesn't mean I didn't like it though. It's just that it was abrupt and wrapped up a bit quick. I wanted to spending more time with them. But it's okay, the ending made up for it! Even though it was bit fast of an ending for my liking, the ending was so sweet! It held promises, and anything can happen in Vegas. I was happy we got to see some of the Beachwood Bay characters for a bit (wish that they were around longer). This spin-off series doesn't stray far from it's Beachwood Bay vibe, so it never lost sight of its organic roots. The sneak peek into the next installment Unstoppable had me curious and giddy. I had my doubts about Dex's little sister at first, so I'm itching to get to know about her better, and to know the mysterious Ryder. Overall, Uninhibited is a sweet summer read to indulge in with no regrets and no holding back.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review, however, it does not influence my review nor am I being compensated.
